History of the Society

Founding of the Society:

  • In the mid-1990's initial contacts were made with Sándor Molnár, a young man from Transcarparthia, who was enrolled in advanced theological studies near Berlin.
  • Another young theology student Sándor Zán came to the Vogtland region of Germany to learn the German language. He has been active as a pastor in his homeland since the fall of 1996, and as the bishop of his church since january 2007.
  • Meanwhile another young man (Péter Szeghljánik) spent a year here in Lengenfeld to learn German and to take advanced theological studies.
  • The growing number of personal contacts led, as a result of the poverty of this region, to the founding of the Benefit Society in April 1997.
  • It is precisely the many personal connections which are a guarantee for us that our assistance benefits those intended to receive it and is properly allocated.
  • The basis of all our efforts is Christian love of neighbor.
